ANIWA - One person is dead following a semi tanker crash Saturday morning along U.S. 45 in southern Langlade County, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The tanker driver, a 29-year-old man from Ringle, drove onto the shoulder of U.S. 45 near Old 26 Road in the Town of Rolling, where he lost control and tanker overturned, the state patrol said. The driver died at the scene.

About 5,000 gallons of gasoline leaked from the punctured tank. The Oneida County HazMat Team was on the scene attempting to stop the release of fuel.

The Langlade County Sheriff's Department expected U.S. 43 between State 47 and the Shawano County line to be closed most of the day. Officials suggested taking Langlade County G to Langlade County HH to State 52 as an alternative route.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family.
