RIB MOUNTAIN - Mark Mackesy took the lead on a restart late in the race and held on to win the TUNDRA Super Late Model feature last Sunday at  State Park Speedway.

Mackesy took an outside line on restart with 10 laps left in the 75-lap race to pull away from Derek Kraus to earn his second career win in a TUNDRA race.

TUDRA is THE Unified Northern Drivers Racing Association series.

The Super Late Model class will be part of the race schedule Thursday at State Park Speedway. Qualifying begins at 6 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

Kraus was vying for his third straight win in a Super Late Model series race at the track.

“That’s pretty neat.  We haven’t won a big race here since the Flip Merwin Memorial race in 2013,” Mackesy said in a TUNDRA series  media release.  “To beat this stellar field of cars that’s here tonight is amazing.  There is so much talent in this feature tonight, it’s unbelievable.

“I could see when I was behind Derek that he couldn’t get up and out of the corners and I could get a good run,” Mackesy said of the late restart.  “I knew if I could get a run on him through the corner I could get around him on the outside.”

Dalton Zehr finished third, while Ryan Farrell and Billy Mohn were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Dave Trute edged Travis Volm by a car length to win the 30-lap TUNDRA Sportsman series feature and grab the points lead in the division

Greg Back placed third in the feature, while John Zuch was fourth.

Rex Rossier won the 20-lap TUNDRA Vintage feature, his second straight win in the class. Rossier took the lead from Pat Hearney on the 18th lap.

Dave Edwards won the Midwest Truck Series feature, leading all but four of the 50-lap Kim Parsons Memorial Tour Mid Summer Rib Mountain Classic.

Jerry Wood was second, followed by Jeremy Lepark and Tommy Pocaro.
