Points leader takes Super Late Model race

RIB MOUNTAIN - Dalton Zehr won his first Super Late Model feature of the season Thursday at State Park Speedway and maintained his points lead in the division.

Justin Mondeik held the lead for the first half of the race, but Zehr took the lead with 23 laps to go and held on for the victory, Derek Kraus finished second and Mondeik was third. Jay Van Der Geest and Reagan May placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Zehr leads the Super Late Model by 22 points over Krause. Natalie Decker is third overall, 49 points back of Zehr.

The Super Late Model division will compete in the Wayne 'Lodi' Lodholz Memorial Thursday, part of the full schedule at the speedway. Kraus won the previous two Memorial races this season — the Flip Merwin and Larry Detjens races.

Phil Malouf started on the pole and won the Limited Late Model feature for the first time this season as well. Lyle Nowak, who won the heat race, finished second and took the lead in the season points race. Nowak leads Jerry Brickner by seven points with two races left in the season.

Brickner placed third overall in the feature, followed by Dave Cabelk and Todd Handrick.

Malouf also won the Mini-Mod feature race, taking the lead on a restart with five laps left in the race. George Seliger finished second and has a 101-point lead in the division. Mike Heidmann was third, followed by Dale Louze and Jimmer Lietz.

Zach Onson won his first feature in the Mini-Stock division, taking the lead for good on a restart with 11 laps left. Robb Wruck and Greg Blount finished second and third, respectively, and Wruck leads Blount by five points in the season title chase.

Travis Volm passed Brandon Knoblock with four laps left in the Pure Stock feature and held on to win. Louie Merriam finished second and holds a 31-point lead over Volm in the season championship race.
