One semi-truck driver dead after crash

TOWN OF RIETBROCK - One semi-truck driver is dead after a crash on State 29 Thursday morning. 

Deputies were called around 6 a.m. to a crash involving two semi-trucks on westbound State 29 between Marathon County H and Cardinal Road in the town of Rietbrock, according to the Marathon County Sheriff's Office.

One of the trucks was traveling eastbound State 29, crossed through the median and struck a semi-truck traveling westbound, according to police. During the crash, one of the semi-truck's load spilled out onto the road, police said. 

One of the drivers died in the crash and the other driver was sent to a local hospital, police said. The westbound lanes of State 29 are closed and crews expected to open up the lanes late Thursday afternoon or in the early evening, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Westbound traffic is detoured via State 107,State 153and State 97. Commuters are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time. Eastbound State 29 is open, the DOT said.
