Stevens Point Area High School's Ally Miklesh cheers as she scores against Sun Prairie during a WIAA Division 1 state semifinal earlier this month.

WAUSAU –  Kaylee Learman earned the Cloverwood Conference East Division softball player of the year honors last month after a dominant spring in which she was among the state leaders in nearly every offensive category.

The Greenwood junior recently picked up another postseason award as she was named the Division 5 player of the year by the Wisconsin Fastpitch Coaches Association. Learman, who went 48-for-64 this spring with 16 home runs and 53 RBI, leads a group of 11 local softball players who were named to the Large School (Divisions 1 and 2) or Small School (Divisions 3-5) all-state teams or received honorable mention consideration.

Learman was one of four local players to earn first team honors. SPASH senior Aubrey Drohner and junior Ally Miklesh were both first team selections for Large Schools in a year in which the Panther reached the WIAA Division 1 state semifinals. Miklesh entered the state tournament with a .500 batting avearge while Drohner's was at.462. The two combined to drive in more than 70 runs this season, and Drohner had a 14-3 record as a pitcher for the Panthers.

Pacelli High School's Paige Hintz is congratulated by Cardinals coach Ann Molski during a WIAA Division 4 state semifinal game in June. Hintz was one of two Pacelli players recently named to the all-Central Wisconsin Conference-8 softball first team.

Learman is joined on the Small School first team all-state by Pacelli junior Paige Hintz, who helped the Cardinals advance to the Division 4 state championship game.

Hintz batted over .400 this year and carried a .517 slugging percentage into the state tournament.

Hintz’s teammate, Christonna Shafranski, was one of three players named to the Small School second team.

Athens teammates Berenice Lira and Kenadi Deidrich both earned the second-team honor as well.

D.C. Everest senior pitcher Miranda Gajewski was a second team selection on the Large School all-state squad.

Everest senior Maggie Plaza and SPASH senior Brittney Flugaur both were named honorable mention for the Large School teams.

Assumption junior Erin Sullivan was named honorable mention for the Small Schools.
