Pacelli moves into girls volleyball state poll for first time
WAUSAU - Pacelli entered the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association state poll for the first time and is one of four local programs ranked this week.
The Cardinals (19-7) are ranked ninth in Division 3 and made the jump into the top 10 after they were honorable mention last week.
Stratford (24-9) remained second in Division 3 for the fourth straight week, and two other local programs did not shift positions from last week's poll.
Newman Catholic (20-11), which beat Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division showdown last week, remained third in Division 4. Merrill (23-5), the Wisconsin Valley Conference leaders, were ninth in Division 2.
Athens (20-8) just missed the top 10 and is a honorable mention selection in Division 3.
Three teams held their position at No. 1 this week — Lakeside Lutheran (Division 2), Lake Country Lutheran (Division 3) and Clayton (Division 4). Divine Savior Holy Angels moved up one spot to No. 1 in Division 1. DSHA replaced Arrowhead, which dropped five spots to fifth in the poll.
