Here are the top 10 high school football games to watch this week

West De Pere (5-0) at Seymour (4-1)

The series: West De Pere leads 35-14.

The last time: West De Pere won 13-6 on Sept. 22, 2017, at De Pere.

About the Phantoms: West De Pere enters the game in a tie for first in the Bay Conference with Seymour and Menasha with 4-0 marks. The Phantoms are coming off a 49-7 win over Xavier. Quarterback Josh Blount led the way, completing 6 of 10 passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, while rushing 13 times for 108 yards and two TDs. David Vanderlogt added 89 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, while Aaron Wagner rushed for another score.

About the Thunder: Seymour defeated Shawano 41-19 last Friday as Bryce Kuske powered his way to 147 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries. Also scoring touchdowns for the Thunder were Hunter Clark, Peyton Dorn and Aaron Geurts.

 

Manawa (4-1) at Iola-Scandinavia (5-0)

The series: Manawa leads 19-13-1.

The last time: Iola-Scandinavia won 49-0 on Sept. 15, 2017, at Manawa.

About the Wolves: Manawa is 2-1 in CWC-Large play, one game behind Amherst and Iola-Scandinavia. The Wolves are coming off a 54-13 win over Shiocton, the first time the Wolves had beaten the Chiefs since 2001. In that game, quarterback Mason Wiesner led the way, completing 16 of 25 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns. He was picked off twice. Wiesner also rushed for a score. Seth Forbes paced the Manawa ground attack with 24 carries for 160 yards and two TDs.

About the Thunderbirds: Iola-Scandinavia carved up Bonduel 47-12 on Friday. Bryce Huettner carried the load for the Thunderbirds, rushing 24 times for 214 yards and three TDs. Connor Kurki and Carter Kurki each rushed and passed for a touchdown each.

 

Bonduel (3-2) at Amherst (4-1)

The series: Bonduel leads 21-15.

The last time: Amherst won 47-20 on Sept. 15, 2017, at Bonduel.

About the Bears: Bonduel is just one game behind Amherst and Iola-Scandinavia, but is coming off a big loss to the Thunderbirds. Isaac Garside paced the Bears, scoring both of Bonduel’s touchdowns, one on a 5-yard run and the other on a 79-yard kickoff return.

About the Falcons: Amherst’s only loss this season was a 34-0 decision to Fond du lac St. Mary’s Springs. The Falcons rolled over Weyauwega-Fremont 48-8 on Friday. Lincoln Cullen led the way, completing 7 of 10 passes for 78 yards and one touchdown and rushing three times for 95 yards and two scores. Cyle Zblewski added a pair of rushing touchdowns, while Josh Rieck and Eli Bentley also rushed for TDs.

 

Spencer/Columbus Catholic (5-0) at Colby (5-0)

The series: Colby leads 6-4.

The last time: Spencer/Columbus Catholic won 57-14 on Sept. 15, 2017, at Spencer.

About the Rockets: Like Colby, Spencer/Columbus Catholic trails Regis by one-half game in the Cloverbelt Conference with a 4-0 conference mark. The Rockets raced out to a 40-0 halftime lead on Friday en route to a 46-16 victory over Neillsville/Granton. Quarterback Jared Mandel led the way, completing 9 of 16 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns and one interception, and adding 18 yards and one touchdown on two rushing attempts. Austin Bacon and Hayden Bauman also rushed for scores.

About the Hornets: Colby defeated Fall Creek 34-21 last week. The Hornets are off to their best start since finishing 6-1 and in second place in the Cloverbelt and 8-2 overall in 2013. Colby is shooting for its first conference title since 2011.

 

Abbotsford (4-1) at Greenwood (3-2)

The series (Since 1964): Greenwood leads 7-6.

The last time: Abbotsford won 56-20 on Sept. 22, 2017, at Abbotsford.

About the Falcons: Abbotsford is tied with Loyal for the Cloverwood Conference lead at 3-0 and is coming off a 41-6 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption. Joe Aguilera led the Falcons with eight carries for 195 yards (24.4 average) and three touchdowns. Dalton Feddick and Chance Clement also rushed for TDs and Feddick passed for another.

About the Indians: Greenwood is 2-1 in conference play, including a 14-12 come-from-behind win over Athens on Friday. Wyatt Artac paced the Indians, rushing 39 times for 192 yards and one touchdown. Andrew Morrow added a 34-yard touchdown run.  

 

Plymouth (4-1) at Ripon (3-2)

The series: Plymouth leads 5-1.

The last time: Plymouth won 40-0 on Sept. 29, 2017, at Plymouth.

About the Panthers: Plymouth is tied with Winneconne for the East Central Conference lead at 3-0 and is coming off a 35-0 triumph over Kewaskum. Quarterback Cole Booth led the way, completing 9 of 13 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown and rushing seven times for 28 yards and one TD. Josh Koll added 15 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

About the Tigers: Ripon is 2-1 in the ECC after beating Waupun 56-20. Max Husboe passed for two scores and Eli Kropp rushed for two others. Also rushing for touchdowns were Cameron Hahn, Isaiah Ellis and Nick Peterman.

 

Kiel (5-0) at Valders (4-1)

The series: Kiel leads 19-15-2.

The last time: Valders won 19-17 on Sept. 22, 2017, at Kiel.

About the Raiders: Kiel enters the game in a first-place tie with Two Rivers at 3-0 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. The Raiders downed Brillion 42-0 last week, scoring all of their points in the first half. Quarterback Mitchell Mahler led the way, completing 6 of 7 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns, and rushing three times for 18 yards and two TDs. Maximus Ramminger was Kiel’s leading rusher, gaining 102 yards on nine carries while Alexander Kleinhans added a rushing score.

About the Vikings: Valders is one game behind in the EWC with a 2-1 mark. The Vikings’ lone loss was a 13-6 decision to Sheboygan Falls on Sept. 7. Last week, Valders beat Manitowoc Roncalli 37-20. Michael Gesese-Elsenpeter was a beast for the Vikings, rushing 30 times for 165 yards and scoring four touchdowns. Quarterback Fletcher Dallas also threw for one TD.

 

Omro (5-0) at Fond du Lac Springs (5-0)

The series: Springs leads 11-2.

The last time: Springs won 48-0 on Sept. 22, 2017, at Ormo.

About the Foxes: Omro leads the Flyway Conference with a 3-0 mark after cruising past Lomira 28-7. Quarterback Jacob Kafer led the charge, completing 4 of 10 passes for 71 yards and rushing 14 times for 132 yards and one touchdown. Jaeden Frost added nine carries for 77 yards and scored two TDs, while Clayton Markech added a rushing touchdown.

About the Ledgers: Springs is ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press small schools poll and is 1-0 in the Flyway. After a slow start against Winnebago Lutheran, which saw the Vikings open the scoring with a fumble return for a touchdown, the Ledgers turned a seven-point halftime lead into a 42-7 win. Marcus Orlandoni led the way, rushing 27 times for 233 yards and four touchdowns, while Jacob Hoch added a rushing touchdown and Mitchell Waechter a passing TD.

 

Green Bay Notre Dame (4-1) at Bay Port (5-0)

The series: Bay Port leads 7-2.

The last time: Bay Port won 35-21 on Sept. 22, 2017, at Notre Dame.

About the Tritons: Notre Dame is just one game behind Bay Port and Green Bay Preble for the Fox River Classic Conference lead. Last week, the Tritons beat Manitowoc 33-14 as quarterback Wes Glime completed 17 of 23 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns and one interception. Running back Brandon Limoni added 19 carries for 102 yards and two scores.

About the Pirates: Bay Port is aiming for its third consecutive FRCC championship. Last week the Pirates scored a touchdown in each quarter en route to a 28-0 win over previously unbeaten Pulaski. Quarterback Jake Plummer completed 11 of 13 passes for 122 yards and rushed 16 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns. Isaiah Gash added 33 carries for 193 yards and two TDs.

 

Kimberly (4-1) at Neenah (5-0)

The series: Neenah leads 39-21-2.

The last time: Kimberly won 15-8 on Sept. 22, 2017, at Kimberly.

About the Papermakers: Kimberly leads the Valley Football Association-North with a 4-1 record after defeating Appleton West 45-7 last Friday. The Papermakers briefly trailed before Cody Staerkel helped jump-start the offense, completing 11 of 22 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns. He was picked off once. Caleb Frazier led the ground game, rushing 19 times for 158 yards and one touchdown, while Will Fischer carried 14 times for 121 yards and two TDs.

About the Rockets: Neenah leads the VFA-South with a 5-0 record, one-half game ahead of Division 1 top-ranked Fond du Lac. Neenah rolled to a 44-6 win over Oshkosh North on Friday as Carson Hughes rushed 11 times for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Ryan Elsch also rushed for a score, while Luke Elkin threw for another.
